Nearly twenty thousand residents of Daru Town in the Jawie Chiefdom Kailahun District are living without pure drinking water in that part of the country. Sierra Leone News : NRA Unveils New Rates on Redundancy Payments
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has announced a reduction on taxes paid on redundancy payments. The Deputy Commissioner of the Domestic Taxes Department, Alfred Akibo-Betts explained that under the Income Tax Act 2000 as amended, redundancy and retirement payments which are made to employees when their employment are terminated have special tax treatment where an amount paid up to a limit is tax free. As such, he added, redundancy and retirement payments are usually divided into two components for tax purposes namely the tax free amount and the assessable amount.

The Co-Chair meeting held at Radisson Blu on the 19th February, 2015, was an opportunity for Minister Isabella Lovin (Swedish Minister of Finance and chair of INCAF) and Dr. Kaifala Marah (Sierra Leone Minister of Finance and Economic Development and chair of the g7+) to establish personal objective contact. For further clarification, let me give the straight meaning to the acronym INCAF – which means International Network on Conflict and Fragility. The g7+ is a voluntary association of twenty countries that are or have been affected by conflict and are now in transition to the next stage of development. Report by the Auditor-General is interesting. I applaud her courage and bravery in laying things bare for us. Thanks Madam! [ SMILE ]. However, I will reserve my comments against those indicted until they are put through due constitutional process. On a different note, I just wonder why people are rushing to blame our beloved President over findings of the Auditor-General? Yes, President Koroma has a lot of human faults BUT who was it who first alerted us all about activities of "shameless crooks" in the fight against Ebola?
