Sierra Leone’s House of Parliament on Thursday 2nd July 2015 finally ratified the Year 2003 African Union protocol on Rights of Women in Africa. On that same date, President Koroma whose gender credentials; especially in his first term, used to be impeccable, firmly and easily re-stated his and the ruling APC party’s unchallengeable position as Sierra Leone’s biggest-ever champions of women’s rights and biggest-ever promoter of women in public office. This was done with a surprise announcement of key appointments of women that July 2nd night.

Hon. Robin Faley on 25th 26th and 27th June 2015 mobilized youth to clean Mosques in Port Loko. He also provided food for Muslims and helped in boosting Operation Northern Push by involving and motivating youth to embark on environmental hygiene, a cleaning exercise that was carried out by 100 youths. Uselessness of former IMC now shines so bright
Today I write again about the Independent Media Commission (IMC), Sierra Leone’s media regulator. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) which is usually on the side of media practitioners, recently damned the Sierra Leone media. They expressed concerns over increasing incidents of lawless and uncouth behaviour by the local media. They cited “increasing” number of indecent actions by media houses that resulted in fines.
